Background
After spending 20 wonderful years of my married life being a home maker, enjoying and being part of my husband’s successful career, raising two charming boys and having a great family life, I decided to finally follow my passion. Having a very supportive husband, I decided to start my career in Hindustani Music, with a stalwart. With the Grace of SadGuru Shirdi Baba, I initiated Madhur School of Music in March 2013.
My life with music
I feel truly blessed to be learning from a Guru of the caliber of Pandit Pritam Bhattacharjee, disciple of Pandit Jasraj ji. I believe in teaching Hindustani classical music with absolute sincerity and passionate dedication, following the same verve and felicity of Pandit Pritam ji. My Mother was the driving force behind my learning music. I started learning music at the tender age of five from Smt. Sharda Rao, a teacher with exceptional abilities in teaching music, who built a great foundation for me. I continued learning until I completed high school. In the year 2010, I met Pandit Pritam Bhattacharjee and was completely blown away by his creativity and talent as a musician and teacher. Since then, I have been enrolled into the enchanting Pandit Jasraj Ji Gharana of music. It’s been 25 years of learning and my music journey continues with more enthusiasm. In my life, with the Grace of God, Shirdi Baba, my SadGuru, has been my Antaryami, inspiration and my guide. My musical inspiration has been Pritam Ji since the day he became my music Guru. He is not only vivacious, soulful classical singer but also a very creative composer. He already has 450 of his own compositions to his credit. He is carrying forward the rich Mevati Gharana (Pandit Jasraj ji Gharana) tradition and legacy and has further enhanced and embellished his gaayaki (style of singing) with more aesthetic elements. His energetic singing is characterized by insightful treatment of the ragas and impeccable style.
